point and shoots

So, I got a new toy...well, it's not really a toy, it's a marketing tool. At least that is how I explained it to Robert when I told him how much I NEEDED it. He has been letting me borrow his little point and shoot camera for awhile now, until I spilled a little water on it in Las Vegas, oops. It's okay now.
I have been researching for awhile now and found that this little silver baby has the best specs and can easily fit into my pocket and be taken everywhere, even into a concert where there are NO professional cameras allowed. So, this weekend, after my pretty please's he came home with this shiny little wide-angle-8.0 megapixel-with Image Stabalizer-marketing tool. And it's ALL MINE.
Meet my new toy: Canon SD870 IS Here is my first shot with it at last night's Salvador concert. Not bad, not bad.

Congrats to my friend Jasmine who's hubby also bought her a new 'marketing tool' this weekend!

Salvador

Anyone ever heard of these guys? I first met the band Salvador a few years ago when they visited a local church in my neighborhood. They have a unique style of jazz fusion with a latin flavor that has drawn big crowds in the past. Anyway, thanks to a friend of mine I have tickets to see Salvador tonight in concert, whoo hoo!

Here is a photo of Salvador lead singer Nick Gonzalez, at Spirit West Coast last year.

Happy Sunday!

Matt and Amanda

A friend of mine introduced me to a photography forum last year and since then I have met so many talented colleagues who I now call my friends, including photographer Eddie Roman.
I assisted Eddie Roman Studios this month as a 2nd photographer, or as we say '2nd shooter'.

This summer I am scheduled to shoot a few more weddings with Eddie and I am looking foward to working with him. Here are a few images I will share from Matt and Amanda's wedding day!

I love this image of the Mother of the Groom giving him a thumbs-up before the Bride comes.

Las Vegas - Part 3

During the WPPI tradeshow we hit the Shootsac booth just as photographers Jasmine Star and Jessica Claire were there to promote the super cool Shootsac bags. What a treat! This was my first time meeting these two gals, and they were so fun to chat with.
L-R: Rowena, Me, Jasmine Star, Jessica Claire, Melissa Koehler, and Alyssa Lang.
So, I thought if maybe I hugged Jasmine Star for this quick pic some of her talent might rub off on me?
Jasmine, love your work girl!
And if meeting those two ladies wasn't exciting enough...well, then how about meeting DavidJay! We had him all to ourselves at the Adobe booth for about...oh, two minutes! He's another one of those people with a contagious smile.

One last photo in front of the WPPI sign as the tradeshow was closing up for it's last day. This one is for the scrapbook. We are too cool in our shades...and tired, and hungry...Starbucks, were are you!??
Here's a photo from the photobooth inside [B]eckers party. These are soo fun!!
David baxter and Jessica Claire joined us for a few laughs in the booth!
More silliness from our hotel room the night before check-out. we won't show you the rest of our antics from this set of pics, or should we?

Las Vegas - Part 2

All of us have been on sensory overload since we hit the convention. Beside all the learning and note-taking, there are so many talented photographers to meet...like [B]ecker! He was offering a few headshots to people in front of the Paris Hotel so we headed over to get a few for ourselves. [B] sure to check out his blog too!

Then it was off to the Lovecat Party in the Rio Hotel hosted by Anne Ruthmann, who by the way is THEE most inspirational photographer to me.

I was so excited to finally meet her in person and tell her this myself! You rock Anne!
Alyssa Lang, Me, and Roxanne Benton.
Girls night out!
Alyssa Lang, Me, Melissa Mc Clure, Nataly Lemus, and Melissa Koehler.

Melissa's smile can be very contagious...just look at me smiling from ear to ear!

The next night it we headed out to [B]ecker's party at the Mandalay Bay - fun, fun, fun!
Here I am pictured with Nate Kaiser, Melissa Koehler, and David Baxter.

Here I met the most friendly people, including Carly and Gabriel ryan, they are soo cute together!
The very talented and respected Robert Evans, who was so pleasant to meet.
It was a girls night out...again. Our turn to strike a pose for the photographer...don't we look hot!?

Las Vegas - part 1

Still in Las Vegas at the WPPI convention. Learning, laughing, and loving all that there is to see in the annual Wedding and Portrait Photographers International conferences. There are about 10,000 photographers from all over the country and beyond that have come to this ever so popular town that never sleeps. I'll be out of town until Friday March 21st, until then I will be out of contact.

Here is a photo of my roomates and I.

Scott Gordin Band

I thought I was in pretty good shape until I started climbing the steep terrain of this rocky dirt hill. Maybe it's time I take my dog for more walks?
This weekend I headed out to the hills for the pleasure of working with the Scott Gordin Band on a few promotional photos for an upcoming CD project. If you have a minute, take a listen to their tunes on myspace.

To my clients and readers:
It's finally here! I will be out of town for this week to attend WPPI. What's this? Let's just say it's the annual Prom Convention of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, where I will have fun learning, networking, and checking out all the new and latest equipement and products to better serve you - my clients!

For all of those enquiring minds that want to know, be sure to check back here for a post about my trip with photos...Vegas here I come - woot!

Armando and Suzette

So, I've been on a blogging hiatus lately...did you miss me? Seriously, it's been March madness with my calendar, but I finally put time aside to give my bloggie some love!
I was recently invited by the super talented Louis and Erin Palos to hang out and shoot a wedding with them. Was I excited? Oh...heck yeah, they are cool people for sure.

Louis found this sweet field with beautiful spring flowers blooming in the golden sunlight.

The Bride wore these very hip pair of shoes to complete her gorgeous wedding gown.

What little girl doesn't dream of running free through a field of beautiful flowers?

The 70-200mm lens is soo unsuspecting here...I couldn't resist snapping Erin's cute smile!
So...I thought I would post a snap of Louis too, ha!
Thanks so much for having me you guys, I was happy to tag along with the two of you! xoxo.
