Spring Cleaning for the Heart

This past weekend I had a chance to clean and organize my side of the closet and boy was Robert happy I did. Shoes, sweaters, and even empty camera gear boxes took up unnecessary space. A quick straightening up and moving things around is usually all I normally do. But this time I realized it needed a good spring cleaning. So, I cleaned.

For the past couple of months now, I have been searching my heart to realize that I have been doing the same thing inwardly...feeling a sense of busyness while others are talking...moving priorities around...quickly straightening situations when I could.

Today is the first week of Spring and I ready for a fresh new season for not only my closet, but for my daily life and the awesome people who are in it.

And speaking of awesome people - I found this old picture of my good friend, Dawn Malone. When I started out in this business Dawn encouraged me and gave me many opportunities to grow as a photographer. She rocks.

Pelican Hill Newport Beach Wedding | Joe and Cassie

For Joe and Cassie, their wedding day was truly heaven on earth. The warm sun above us as we witnessed an intimate ceremony under a majestic gazebo, atop a hill over looking the Pacific Ocean. Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach to be exact. Absolutely stunning. I'll say it again, stunning!

Such a perfect location for Joe and Cassie to celebrate a new chapter of life together, among their family and friends. Cassie shared with me how there would be no garter toss, cake cutting, or dance floor. Just a small group of family and close friends. Simple and classy, just like everything I've learned about them. What more can I say?

Congratulations Joe and Cassie, it was an honor to capture your story through my lens.

Laughter is my favorite expression to photograph on a wedding day. I could watch a bride and groom crack-up and laugh together the whole day. It's THAT cool.

Our view at sunset of the Pelican Hill Wedding Gazebo from the dinner reception. I told you it was stunning.

The Little Things

My morning began busy like most other mornings of the week. Music on...coffee brewing...kids asking me trivia questions...all at the same time. But this time it was different. The birds were chirping louder, the golden rays shining in more brightly through the window, and the air...well, warmer. I want to remember this day and be thankful.

So, today I am thankful for the little things. All of them. For a husband who lets me wear his slippers around the house. For my kids who share their tell all secrets with me. For the green grass in our backyard that Bella rolls herself on. And the freedom to blog about it.

But please, no more trivia questions.

Happy Friday!

C28 Concert | Temecula, CA

I am frequently asked how my journey first began as a photographer. To be honest, I have been traveling down this road for a long time. I just didn't know it. Taking pictures of friends in high school, then documenting my mission trip to Brazil, and later attempting to catch the milestones of my three toddlers growing up. All through the lens of my camera.

And finally, volunteer ministry.

The C28 Outreach concert events have been a really special way for me to volunteer and give back to my community. It's an event my family and I look forward to each year as we come away so blessed. This is where I started to really enjoy my craft.

Press Play Band

December Radio Band

Seventh Day Slumber Band

There was an alter call given at the end of the night where several people came forward for prayer. Afterward, there was literature handed out.

It's always cool to see the SDS or Seventh Day Slumber guys including their Bass player Josh Schwartz, who is a past client of mine from my first wedding season in 2007.

Many thanks to the bands and ministry partners who participated at this event despite the cold weather and rescheduling of dates due to last week's heavy rain storm. Air1 Radio, C28 stores, and Rallys For Christ, just to name a few. YOU ROCK.

Kissbook Goodness

My first experience attending a wedding photographer convention was at WPPI in Las Vegas. It was described to me as the super bowl of the wedding photography industry. I remember walking the trade show floors filled with wall to wall booths of album company vendors from all shapes and sizes. With each page I turned and book I inspected there was only one book company that remained practical to me in every way.

KISS Wedding Books has been the perfect fit for my business. I'll share with you a few images of David and Becky's wedding album that I recently delivered.

Below, is a 10x10 size album with 40 pages. These pages are 2mm thick.

Made of 100% natural full grain leather and delivered in a special swanky designed cloth dust cover.

Shown below, in the center of the book there are no gutters. Just a beautiful lay flat quality.

Albums are available in three sizes and seven colors. Simple.
Shown below is 'Smoldering Brown' leather goodness.

There are seven swatches of different colors shown in my post here.

And the truth is...I really didn't have to go all the way to Las Vegas to find KISS, the company is based right here in Southern California. Sweet.

A Birthday Blessing

Someone once said to me that grace is like getting something you don't deserve. For the past 15 years I have been on the receiving end of what I can only describe as a cup that continually over flows. Robert gives and gives...then he gives some more.

Robert supports me as a creative artist, he cheers me on when I take risks, and lovingly counsels me when I need it most. My business would not exist without his partnership.

Dear Robert,
wishing you a birthday cup filled to top and spilling over with blessings returned to you a hundred fold for all that you do, all that you are, and all that you GIVE.

This is our silly self portrait taken in front of a deli mirror in lower Manhattan, New York.
