Claremont Senior Session | Marissa

Some of you might remember Marissa who I photographed earlier this year for her senior cap and gown picture. Well, she's back! And I couldn't be more happy to share her fabulous-ness with you.

Marissa, It was an honor for me to be included in documenting this wonderful milestone in your life. Knowing you in this short amount of time has reminded me to celebrate life the way that you have. Wishing you much joy and happiness in the years to come my friend.

I love it when a client brings their own props to incorporate into the photo session. It creates images that are more of a personal reflection on who they are and what they're about.

Marissa is a talented musician, fabulous dancer, and avid reader. I like to think of her as a keeper of all things classic--movies, books, swing dancing, the list goes on.

Pride and Prejudice? Helloooo Mr. Darcy! I love that she owns a copy of this book. In hardcover. And yes, Mr. Darcy makes me swoon.

A Morning Walk

This morning I walked 2 miles. Uphill. If you know me, you know that I only walk to the mail box. On a good day. Oh, and that long walk at church on Sunday mornings when I have to park at the back of the parking lot! yeah, I'm THAT girl. So, this morning I'm asking myself...why am I doing this again?

Maybe it's because I was up for a good challenge...maybe it's the curiosity of the unknown. Maybe it's because I LOVE MY CLIENTS.

More on that story coming soon.

In the meantime, here is a sneak peek of the amazing Marissa and her senior session. Isn't she a picture of beauty from the inside out?

Easter Blessings

For me, Easter is the most beautiful day of the year. Rain or shine, we spring out of bed for Easter as we celebrate our faith, redemption, and being thankful for all things.

This year our day began at church as always. But instead of a traditional ham dinner with our extended family we decided to try something a little different. Sushi. All-you-can-eat sushi at a sweet little spot in Corona. The kids loved it. They actually eat sushi with chopstick training wheels! So, to add to our already spontaneous afternoon, we drove down the street where I talked the kids into a mini photo shoot.

It's days like these that remind me the importance to document my kids as much as possible. They are growing fast and will soon be taller than me. I want to freeze time and remember them just as they are, right now. Savannah - talented and quick to learn. Isaiah - curious and observant. And Bella - creative and entertaining. I love them all, they are my blessings.

Isaiah, Savannah, and Bella.

Happy Monday!

Spring Cleaning for the Heart

This past weekend I had a chance to clean and organize my side of the closet and boy was Robert happy I did. Shoes, sweaters, and even empty camera gear boxes took up unnecessary space. A quick straightening up and moving things around is usually all I normally do. But this time I realized it needed a good spring cleaning. So, I cleaned.

For the past couple of months now, I have been searching my heart to realize that I have been doing the same thing inwardly...feeling a sense of busyness while others are talking...moving priorities around...quickly straightening situations when I could.

Today is the first week of Spring and I ready for a fresh new season for not only my closet, but for my daily life and the awesome people who are in it.

And speaking of awesome people - I found this old picture of my good friend, Dawn Malone. When I started out in this business Dawn encouraged me and gave me many opportunities to grow as a photographer. She rocks.

Pelican Hill Newport Beach Wedding | Joe and Cassie

For Joe and Cassie, their wedding day was truly heaven on earth. The warm sun above us as we witnessed an intimate ceremony under a majestic gazebo, atop a hill over looking the Pacific Ocean. Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach to be exact. Absolutely stunning. I'll say it again, stunning!

Such a perfect location for Joe and Cassie to celebrate a new chapter of life together, among their family and friends. Cassie shared with me how there would be no garter toss, cake cutting, or dance floor. Just a small group of family and close friends. Simple and classy, just like everything I've learned about them. What more can I say?

Congratulations Joe and Cassie, it was an honor to capture your story through my lens.

Laughter is my favorite expression to photograph on a wedding day. I could watch a bride and groom crack-up and laugh together the whole day. It's THAT cool.

Our view at sunset of the Pelican Hill Wedding Gazebo from the dinner reception. I told you it was stunning.

The Little Things

My morning began busy like most other mornings of the week. Music on...coffee brewing...kids asking me trivia questions...all at the same time. But this time it was different. The birds were chirping louder, the golden rays shining in more brightly through the window, and the air...well, warmer. I want to remember this day and be thankful.

So, today I am thankful for the little things. All of them. For a husband who lets me wear his slippers around the house. For my kids who share their tell all secrets with me. For the green grass in our backyard that Bella rolls herself on. And the freedom to blog about it.

But please, no more trivia questions.

Happy Friday!
